Alabama Hunter Jumper Association Kick Off Show 2022

The AHJA crew is back at it again! This group of ladies had a great show back in the start of March. We are looking forward to a great year of growth and learning with our Alabama Hunter Jumper Association crew.

Our highlights from Kick Off include Fox Lake Farm riders placing 3rd - 7th place in the $1500 hunter derby, taking top ribbons in each hunter division, and excelling in the jumper ring. Equitation day was equally as successful with riders taking top placing in both junior board equitation challenges including a win in the pony ring.

Alabama Hunter Jumper Association 2021 Awards Banquet

We had the opportunity to celebrate our 2021 season at the Alabama Hunter Jumper Association Year End Awards Banquet. We had a great time seeing all of our AHJA friends and celebrating with our barn family. Our riders worked hard this year with many of them reaching their 2021 riding goals!

Our riders brought home 16 champion and reserve champion honors this year between the local circuit and USEF circuit offered by the AHJA. Our riders also won numerous other placings and awards.

Abby Guillory & Brynn Smith made it a 1 and 2 kind of night by taking champion and reserve champion honors in the long stirrup equitation.

Guerry was awarded the Jerry Morrison Award for service to the AHJA.

Dylan Martin was awarded the Pat Hoyle Sportsmanship Award and tied for the “Rise” Service award with Morgan Hurd.

Sydney Velazquez & Caredan Z had a stellar year taking home both the children’s hunter and children’s equitation perpetual awards.

Brynn Smith was awarded The Spirit of The Horse for her hard work and dedication to this sport and the horses.

Mae Moody missed the banquet, but was awarded the Little Equestrian That Could Award for her hard work and dedication.

Fox Lake Farm Receives 2022 Best of Birmingham Award

2022 Scholarship Winner

Congratulations to our own Sydney Velazquez on being awarded one of the 2022 AHJA scholarships for higher education. She is following in the footsteps of two other Fox Lake Farm riders, Lydia Guffey and Kate Knowles, who were also awarded scholarships during their respective senior years of high school.

We have had the pleasure of watching Sydney grow up at Fox Lake Farm and we can’t wait to see what the future has in store for her.

Indoors 2021

Huge congratulations to Mimi Colette Frei on a successful Indoors 2021! She has her two horses quliafied for PNHS, WIHS, and the National Horse Show.

Lillian Reynolds qualified for her first indoor finals and competed in the 2021 3’3” Hamel Medal Final. We are so excited for Lillian’s 2022 season as she sets her sights on the 3’6” equitation ranks with Carlsberg.

Guerry, Mattie, Chance, and Amy packed up a big crew of 15 horses and traveled to Poplar Place Farm in Hamilton, GA to attend the Alabama Hunter Jumper Association Year End Show.

Bates Moody and Cinsational took 3rd place in the $2500 Hunter Derby, reserve champion in the low hunter, 7th in the junior board equitation challenge, and qualified for the Undersaddle Invitational.

Sydney Velazquez and Caredan Z had an awesome weekend! This pair was second in the 3’ classic and solid ribbons in the children’s hunters. They have rounded out their year be taking champion in the year end overall standing in both the children’s hunters and children’s equitation.

Sophia Latham and Best Kept Secret took 3rd in the $250 2’ classic and 4th in the $1500 Hunter Derby. They also had great ribbons in the short stirrup.

Sophie Crane and Burlington had a stellar horse show! Sophie won the Junior Board Equitation Challenge and was champion in the .85m jumpers.

Abby Guillory and White Tie won the 2’ $250 Classic on Sunday! They were also 12th in the $1500 Hunter Derby and were 3rd in the long stirrup medal finals.

Margaret Overton and Elliott had solid ribbons in the older crosspoles and took 3rd in the older crosspole medal finals.

Lydia Guffey and Limerick were quite the pair taking lots of ribbons in the .75m and .85m jumpers. They were also 6th in the $250 .85m/1.0m classic.

Cup of Joe and Paulina Frei were reserve champion in the older crosspole hunters, took 3rd in the $250 beginner showcase, and won the older crosspole medal finals.

Brynn Smith made a triumphant return to the show ring after taking several months off for ankle surgery. Brynn and Jolly took 5th in the 2’ $250 classic, had solid ribbons in the starting hunters and long stirrup, qualified for the Undersaddle Invitational and participated in the junior board equitation challenge. They accomplished all this with just 1 stirrup!

Finley Dambro and Danny won the $250 beginner showcase, took awesome ribbons in the older crosspole, and took 5th in the junior board equitation challenge pony ring.

Pamela Adam and Escalido won all 3 pre-child/adult hunter classes and took home champion in the division. They also qualified for the Undersaddle Invitational, took 8th in the junior board equitation challenge, were 2nd in the pre-child/adult medal finals, and WON the $250 2’6” Classic.

Mae Moody and Wonderland gained valuable mile in the show ring preparing of their 2022 move up to the pre-child/adult ring.

Ruth Branum and Duncan had a stellar weekending brining home champion honors in the older crosspole, 2nd in the $250 2’ classic, and 4th in the older crosspole medal finals.

Kaelin Taylor’s Romulus won the Undersaddle Invitational with Chance Williams in the irons. Kaelin and Romulus were also 8th in the $250 2’6” classic.

Lydia Clayton made her first Year End Show appearance a great one! She and For Fun had solid rounds each day and qualified for the Undersaddle Invitational. They were also 2nd in the long stirrup Medal Finals.

Weekend with the AHJA!

Guerry and Mattie took a group to the Dean Equestrian and Clairmont Show Stables AHJA shows this past weekend and had tons of success!

All the fox lake ladies who showed Saturday, in the main hunter ring, participated in the $500 Hunter Team Challenge. Each of our riders was a valuable members to their team and all walked away with ribbons!

Atlanta Summerfest II

Jen and Chance spent one final week showing for the summer at the Atlanta Summerfest II at Chattahoochee Hills in Fairburn, GA.

Katie Ditmars tackled her first show with us and brought home reserve champion in the younger children’s hunters aboard Kate Knowle’s San Man DASH. We are looking forward to more shows this fall with Katie and Jingles!

Junior Hunter Finals 2021

Congratulations to Lillian Reynolds and Mimi Colette Frei on an awesome Junior Hunter Finals 2021!

Mimi Colette placed 7th in the classic and 8th in the undersadle with Backstreet Boy in the younger small 3’6” junior hunters.
