2020 Picture Year in Reveiw

As we start 2021 we want to celebrate all the great things that happened in 2020!! Congratulations to all our clients on their accomplishments and new partnerships. Here is to a successful 2021!

AHJA Year End Show 2020

Guerry Force, Mattie Harden, Kate Knowles, and Amy Knowles loaded up earlier this month and headed to the Alabama Hunter Jumper Association Year End Show at H & G Horse Quarters in Auburn, AL.

Friday Started off with a bang with Kaelin Taylor and Caruso taking 2nd in the massive schooling hunter under saddle.

Friday ended with the much anticipated $2500 Hunter Derby with 28 horse/rider combinations taking on the first round. FLF had 6 riders tackle the first round with Lydia Guffey & Limerick, Kaelin Taylor & Caruso, Paloma Caine & White Tie, Lillian Reynolds & Kavalier G, Pamela Adam & Escalido, and Bates Moody & Wonderland. After the first round 4 FLF riders returned for the top 12 handy round. Paloma Caine & White Tie, Lillian Reynolds & Kavalier G, Pamela Adam & Escalido, and Bates Moody & Wonderland all earned themselves a place in the top 12.

Paloma Caine & “George” ended up taking the win in the class with a handy round score of 83. Paloma and George were also awarded the Endeavor Award for receiving the highest handy score. The Endeavor Award was donated this year by Guerry Force & Dylan Martin to honor the horse Endeavor, who passed away earlier this year. During his life Endeavor “Willy” spent a year at Fox Lake Farm showing in the junior hunters with Megan Anglin.

Lillian Reynolds and “G” picked up 2nd place honors with Pamela & Donte taking 11th and Bates & Wonder taking 12th.

Saturday was full of smiles and great rounds from all of the FLF ladies!

Lillian and G kept up the momentum on Saturday by taking champion honors in the children’s hunters.

Bates and Wonder were awarded reserve champion in the pre-child/adult out of 16 horses!

Fox Lake had 3 riders take on the short stirrup hunters with Mae Moody & Escalido taking reserve champion and winning the second over fences class. Brynn Smith with Private Party and Maggie Blackstone with Benlea Rain Dancer both had solid rounds and improved each time they stepped into the ring. Maggie and “Stormy” qualified for the undersaddle invitational by placing 2nd in the short stirrup undersaddle. This was Maggie’s first trip to the AHJA Year End Show!

Juliet Blakeslee-Carter has made a triumphant return to the show ring after a 10 year break! She and Jolly were award champion honors for their fantastic rounds in long stirrup.

Sophia Latham made her first appearance at the Year End Show with Best Kept Secret in the younger crosspole hunters. She and Bear had solid rounds all weekend picking up a ribbon in every class out of 12 horses.

Paulina Frei also made her first appearance at the Year End Show with Mr. Congeniality. They earned reserve champion honors in the older walk trot and qualified for the undersaddle invitational by winning the hack.

Lillian Reynolds and G wrapped up our Saturday by taking the win in the Undersaddle Invitational out of 38 horses. Fox Lake was well represented thanks to Paulina & Mr. Congeniality, Juliet & Jolly, Kaelin & Caruso, Maggie & Stormy, and Lillian with G. Maggie and Stormy picked up and 8th place finish in the invitational!

Sunday is classic and equitation day! Lillian kicked us off by taking 3rd place in the AHJA Junior Board Equitation Challenge out of 28 riders.

Bates Moody took 4th place in the pre-child/adult medal finals and won the $250 2’6” Hunter Classic out of 17.

Atlanta Fall Classic I

Jen Hauser traveled to the Altana Fall Classic with some new horse faces and a few young ladies ready to reach their riding goals.

Hannah Banks and her new mount Cypre’s RC tackled their first show together and picked up some decent ribbons in the younger children’s hunters. They were even 4th in the NAL/WIHS Classic.

Lauren Velazquez moved up to the 3’3” junior hunters with her own Balladeer and brought home reserve champion honors and picked up a win in the handy. Congratulation Lauren!

Anna Brett Hyde and her own Carele and Luminous had solid rounds in their respective rings.

Prof De La Roque and Abby Beaty had nice rounds in the adult jumper. Jen also picked up a 2nd place finish in the open 1.15m with Prof earlier in the week.

We will wrap our our 2020 season with a week in Aiken at the start of December but for now it’s time to set goals for 2021!


Autumn at Brownland

Fox Lake went to two weeks at Autumn at Brownland and despite yet another weekend of in climate weather, our riders came out on top!


Lillian Reynolds started her partnership with Kavalier G with a bang! They placed second in the THIS Medal on Friday with an 84. They continued their success over the weekend, winning two over fences and taking home champion in the Older Children’s Hunters. Sydney Velazquez moved up with Caraden Z and rode phenomenal in the Older Children’s even getting a 2nd in one of the classes. The second weekend, Julia McAdam and Cinsational continued their success from the summer and received reserve champion in the Older Children’s Hunters.

Hannah Banks and Corrado won the Classic of the Children’s Hunters the first week. Lauren Velazquez and Balladeer took home a first in the Younger Children’s Hunters with a score of an 86. 

Clayton Mullis and Tower Lux won the High Children’s Classic one week and were 3rd the other week. She also competed in the Modified Juniors during both weeks with great success moving up. Anna Brett Hyde moved up on Carele had 1st and 2nds and wound up moving up to the High Adult Jumpers on Sunday. Abby Beaty and Prof De La Roque rode to multiple top ribbons in the Modified Junior Amateur Jumpers.

Mimi Collette Frei and At Last had great rides both weeks in the 3’6” Junior Hunters, receiving multiple top prizes including a win.

Anna Brett Hyde and Luminous had their hunter debut in the Younger Adult Amateurs with great success. They had great ribbons, among them, a first in the under saddle and 6th in the combined Adult Classic. Romney Velazquez rode A Timely Affair to an 86 in the first round of the classic in the Middle Adult Amateurs. Romney also piloted Caraden Z around for the first time since February and did a fantastic job. 

Dani Moraski’s sale horse, Rolls Royce, went into the show ring for the first time in the Baby Greens. He earned multiple top ribbons in a competitive group. They were also 2nd in the open schooling class. Rolls Royce is available for sale or lease.


Summer Show Updates

Fox Lake Farm had a fantastic August and September of showing despite some inclement weather that tried to keep us down. We did two weeks at Equus Event’s Atlanta Summer Fest and two weeks at Brownland and here are some of the highlights of our time.

At Chatt Hills, we had many champion and reserves. Clayton Mullis and Tower Lux received reserve and came in first in the Child/Adult Jumper Classic. Abby Beaty and Prof De La Roque rode a 3rd in the Child/Adult Jumper Classic and to reserve, tying with Clayton. Julia McAdam and Cinsational took home a champion in the Older Children’s hunters. Dani Moraski and Sydney Velazquez’s Caredan Z were reserve and Dani was also reserve on Julia McAdam’s Cinsational. 

Sydney Velazquez and Caredan Z were 2nd in the Pre-Children’s Hunter Challenge, getting into the show ring after being away for a while. Amanda Owings and Keri Rankin’s Odessa rode to many 2nds including a second in the classic in the Younger Adult Hunters.

Kate Knowles took her new horse No Fear to Chatt Hills for their first outing together and are a perfect pair! They did such a fantastic job there, that at Brownland they moved up to the 1.0M jumpers.

Anna Brett Hyde is also getting used to her new mounts with much success at both Chatt Hills and Brownland. Anna Brett keeps getting more confident and growing with Carele and Luminous and we are so excited to see her excel in future classes!

Right after Chatt Hills, Campbell Swanner and Eclips V travelled up to Traverse City for Junior Hunter Finals. We are so ecstatic with how they did at their first finals together. Campbell had to prep and school Chin for finals and did an incredible job taking what she learned at home and applying it. We are so proud of you and Chin! Thank you to Ashley Morrison for training her at finals and taking care of Campbell and Chin.

The last Sunday of Brownland was cancelled due to the weather, but all is well because our clients got fantastic riding in before the weather. 

Our Children’s Hunters took top ribbons including a first for Lauren Velazquez and Balladeer, Julia McAdam and Cinsational, and Hannah Banks and Corrado came out on top in the classic.

Mimi Colette rode At Last to a first in the handy round of the 3’6” Junior Hunters. Sydney Velazquez and Caredan Z received top ribbons when they moved up to 2’9” in a competitive Modified Child/Adult Division. Romney Velazquez and A Timely Affair were 2nd and 1st in the Middle Adult Hunters. Hagen Blackwell and Vegas De Gravelotte earned multiple 2nds and other top ribbons in the 3’6” Junior Hunters after being out of showing for a while.

At Brownland we had to say goodbye to Julia King and C Beyond, but before they left, they took home top ribbons in the Children’s Hunters, including a 3rd in the classic. We are sad to see them go, but we are so excited for their new adventure living in Tennessee and look forward to seeing them at horse shows! Julia, best of luck and we will miss you!

Tryon Summer Week 5 & 6

We had a wonderful two weeks of showing at Jen Hauser’s favorite place on Earth: Tryon International Equestrian Center. Competition proved tough, but our clients shined! 

Jen Hauser rode Lauren Velazquez’s Balladeer and Megan Wexler rode Keri Rankin’s Odessa in the 3’3” Green division. Both received top ribbons against some stiff competition.

Prof De La Roque and Jen Hauser rode to an 8th place finish in the 1.15M out of 32 competitive entries to start off the first week. Abby Beaty and Prof De La Roque showed in the Adult Jumpers the first week and then moved up to the 1.15M NonPro the second week to take home 4th,5th, and 7th.

Anna Brett Hyde participated in her last show with Glitter Glider to ride to 1st, 7th, and 7th in the 1.15M NonPro the first week. A huge congratulations to Anna Brett for her purchase of Luminous who went on to be 2nd in the 1.15M with Jen Hauser week two. We are so excited to see Anna Brett and Luminous out winning in the Amateur jumpers soon!

Campbell Swanner and Eclips V had some incredible rides,gh picking up top ribbons in the 3’3” Younger Junior Hunters, including a 3rd, 3rd, and 4th. Mimi Colette Frei and At Last pulled off 2nds both weeks in the combined 3’6” Junior Hunters and a 6th in the classic the first week. 

Jen Hauser rode Vegas De Gravelotte to a number of 2nd places in the 3’6” Performance Hunters both weeks. Hagen Blackwell and Vegas De Gravelotte competed in the 3’6” Combined Junior Hunters, winning reserve champion.

Madison Massey rode in the hunters for the first time in 10 years on Romney Velazquez’s A Timely Affair in the Younger Adult Hunters. Madison was 1st in the Combined Adult Classic the first week and 3rd the second week with incredible ribbons in the division as well.

Hannah Banks and Corrado had a tri-color two weeks in a row coming in champion week one and reserve champion week two. Taking home the champion week two was Julia King and C Beyond.

Brownland Summer

After a great clinic with Gary Young and then a wonderful horse show at our barn, we rested up on Sunday to head to Brownland with the horses on Monday morning!

We started the week off with some great rides by Jen Hauser and Danielle Moraski. Jen rode Lauren Velazquez’s Balladeer to a 3rd place finish in the open schooling class and Romney Velazquez’s A Timely Affair to 6th. Danielle and Sydney Velazquez’s Caredan Z took home a 4th and a 6th in the open schooling classes as well. Jen also rode Hagen Blackwell’s Vegas De Gravelotte to 2nd and 3rd place finishes in the 3’6” Performance Hunters. Campbell Swanner’s Eclips V and Jen received a 4th place finish in the handy of the 3’3” Performance Hunters. In the jumper ring, Jen rode to 4th place on Abby Beaty’s Prof De La Roque in the 1.15 M. 

The Junior Hunters jumped right into their division on Friday and Saturday. Campbell Swanner and Eclips V have been getting more consistent every horse show in the 3’3” Large Juniors. They had many great placings including a 6th in the combined 3’3” classic. 

Hagen Blackwell and Vegas De Gravelotte were 2nd in the under saddle and 3rd in the classic of the 3’6” Juniors. Mimi Colette Frei and At Last rode to a 2nd place finish in the 3’6” Juniors and a 6th in the classic.

Our Children’s Hunters were able to have a warm up day on Friday with many successful blue/red classes. Hannah Banks rode Corrado to a blue ribbon finish. Both Lauren Velazquez and Balladeer and Julia McAdam and Cincational finished with red ribbons. Over the weekend, they continued their success. Julia and Cincational won a class sunday and came out reserve champion in the Older Childrens. Lauren and Balladeer rode to an 84 in the first round and took home 4th place in the Combined Childrens Classic. Hannah and Corrado rode to a 4th place finish in a competitive under saddle of the Younger Children’s.

Anna Brett Hyde and Glitter Glider moved up to the 1.15M on Friday to prep for the weekend, riding to 6th place and Abby Beaty and Prof De La Roque were 4th in the High Adults. Over the weekend, Anna Brett and Glitter Glider were 3rd in the High Adults and Abby and Prof De La Roque rode to a 6th place in the NAL/WIHS Adult Jumper Classic.

Sydney Velaquez joined us for her first show post quarantine and rode Caredan Z to the win in 3 of the 5 classes in the Limit Rider Hunter, proving that quarantine did not slow them down. Romney Velazquez rode A Timely Affair to an 80 in the first round classic and a 2nd place finish in the “Wine and Cheese” Middle Adult Hunters over fences.
